Welcome to the Dark Element Music website. This is the official production blog for composer Charles A. Wolschon. We have had some exciting new projects and some exciting news come through the studio recently. First, the horror film The Armoire has been making its way around the film festival circuit. In total, it has been in seventeen film festivals, including The Austin Film Festival and The Telluride Film Festival. The film has won "Best Horror Film" and "Best Film" at four different festivals and Charles was nominated for "Best Score/Sound" at the Independent Horror Film Festival. Second, the very popular 1922 black and white horror film Nosferatu, directed by F.W. Murnau, which was the first vampire film based on Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, has gotten a face lift with an all new full orchestral score. Very exciting indeed!! Third, the upcoming videogame titled "The Handler" from Cubus Games is in the design stages. Also, the docu/mocumentary film Con Artists, which follows the jet-setting life style of two voice over actors, has had its theatrical release. Some other great news, Charles was also nominated for "Best Film Score" for the film Black Red Yellow at the Action on Film International Film Festival. Charles has also been named the Composer in Residence for the Triple Forte Chamber Music Concert Series and has completed the first piece for the series "Opposites for Two Celli" which will have its world premier in mid 2018. With the completion of his 3rd Symphony titled "A Symphony of Horror", a programmatic piece which tells a horror story through music, he was anxious to jump right in and get started on his 4th Symphony, which sketches for the themes have begun. The trumpet ensemble piece, The Mobius Invasion, which had its world premier at the 2013 International Trumpet Guild Conference was met with rave reviews, which in turn helped springboard the completion of the piano suite Midnight in Venice, which should see its world premier sometime in 2018. More news and updates to follow soon. Thanks for checking out the website!!! |
